Paste text with unwanted line breaks, then choose Join lines to rebuild paragraphs, or No breaks to turn everything into one continuous line. Clean removes double spaces and stray blank lines.

Why copied text breaks into short lines
A PDF stores where each line of text sits on the page, not which lines belong to the same paragraph. When you copy from it, most readers insert a line break at the end of every printed line. Plain-text emails are often wrapped at around 72 characters, and some websites and terminal output do the same. The result pasted into a document or a form is a ragged column of short lines.
Join lines: keep paragraphs, lose the wrapping
Join lines treats a blank line as the end of a paragraph and joins everything in between with single spaces. This is the right choice for articles, letters and reports. If a PDF did not leave blank lines between paragraphs, the whole text joins into one block; add blank lines where paragraphs should start, then run Join lines again. Undo always takes you back one step.
No breaks: one continuous line
Some fields accept a single line only: spreadsheet cells, subject lines, many form inputs and some code strings. No breaks removes every line break, including the gaps between paragraphs, and leaves one line of text.
Things to check after joining
- Hyphenated line ends: a word split across lines as exam- / ple becomes exam- ple. Use Find and Replace to search for
-and fix real splits by hand; the tool does not guess, because many hyphens are real. - Lists and headings: bullet lists without blank lines between items are joined into a sentence. Select only the paragraphs you want to change before pressing the button.
- Page numbers and running headers: text copied from several PDF pages may contain page numbers in the middle of a sentence.
Line breaks and your counts
Removing breaks changes the line and paragraph counts in the sidebar but not the word count. The character count drops slightly, because each line break counts as one character and a single space replaces it.
For bigger clean-ups, combine this with find and replace.
