Privacy Policy

WordPico is built with a privacy-by-design architecture. We believe text editors and counters must never inspect, store, or transmit what you write.

1. Document Text & Keystrokes (100% Client-Side)

Your writing never leaves your computer. All text statistics—including word counts, character frequencies, sentence structures, reading times, and keyword density—run completely in your browser's local memory using client-side JavaScript.

  • We never transmit your document content across the network.
  • We have no user accounts, passwords, or server-side document storage.
  • If the optional Autosave toggle is enabled, your text is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage) on your own device. You can turn off autosave or click Clear at any time to delete locally stored text.

2. First-Party Server Metrics

Our hosting infrastructure collects minimal first-party server metrics to monitor uptime, service availability, and aggregate page views:

  • No Personal Tracking: We do not log raw IP addresses, raw user agent strings, or visitor identity records in our analytics databases.
  • No Tracking Cookies: Our first-party operational telemetry does not use cookies and does not track users across websites.
  • Independent Architecture: First-party telemetry is operated entirely on our own infrastructure, separate from any third-party analytics services. Standard log rotation is performed as part of system operations.

3. Third-Party Google Analytics 4 (GA4) & Consent

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) as an optional third-party service to understand overall site traffic patterns. We apply a clear geographic and consent policy:

  • Consent-Required Regions: For visitors from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), Switzerland (CH), or when geographic location cannot be determined, GA4 is disabled by default and is loaded only after explicit user consent.
  • Non-Restricted Regions: In recognized non-restricted jurisdictions outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, GA4 is enabled by default.
  • Privacy Signals: If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, GA4 is automatically disabled regardless of location.
  • Managing Preferences: You can inspect or update your analytics preferences at any time using the Privacy settings button located in the footer of every page.
